Austria Midfielder Laimer Hails Argentina as Best Team in World Cup
Austria midfielder Konrad Laimer has expressed his admiration for Argentina, describing them as the top team at the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament.
Speaking with FIFA’s official website prior to Austria’s Group J match against Argentina on Monday, the Bayern Munich player recognized Argentina’s recent success.
“Argentina are the reigning world champions, so they are the best, and Messi is the best player in the world,” Laimer stated.
He emphasized the opportunity to compete against high-caliber players, noting the potential for personal growth through the experience. “It’s always great to play against players of that calibre and see how you measure up against them,” he said.
Laimer acknowledged Argentina’s quality and the challenge they pose. “Argentina are a special team, with an incredible amount of quality. Of course, we want to show what we can do too, but the other matches will be just as important if we want to progress,” he added.
