Mbappé Weighs in on Goal Scorers Ahead of 2026 World Cup
France captain Kylian Mbappé has shared his predictions on which players are likely to score the most goals at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament is set to begin on Thursday, and will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
During a conversation with football content creator Finn Agostinelli, Mbappé was prompted to select players he believes will excel in scoring during the tournament. He named Spain’s Lamine Yamal as a strong contender, placing him ahead of notable players such as Florian Wirtz, Memphis Depay, Mohamed Salah, and Erling Haaland.
Moreover, Mbappé expressed confidence in his Real Madrid teammate Vinícius Júnior, predicting he would score more goals than Yamal and England’s captain Harry Kane.
In a further round of selections, Mbappé indicated that Lionel Messi would score more goals than Vinícius, but ultimately chose Cristiano Ronaldo to surpass the Argentine forward. When it came to his own performance, Mbappé stated he expects to score more goals than Ronaldo in the tournament.
