Wrong to hand over churches to your son – Pastor Kumuyi on hereditary succession [VIDEO]

Nigerian Televangelist Rejects Speculation on Church Succession

Williams Kumuyi, founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has addressed public speculation regarding the future leadership of his church. He asserted that no General Overseer has the authority to pass on a church to a relative, specifically in reference to his sons.

In a video that has since gained widespread attention, Kumuyi emphasized that the church belongs to Jesus Christ. “It’s the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, and nobody has the right to hand it over to his son,” he stated, dismissing inquiries about whether he would designate any of his sons as his successor.

Kumuyi noted that speculation surrounding his sons has been rampant, with individuals questioning their whereabouts and future roles within the church. He reiterated that the church is not his to transfer and highlighted the biblical precedent, remarking that historical figures like Peter and Paul did not pass leadership to their children.

“The kingdom of God is not meat and drink; it is righteousness and joy in the Holy Ghost. I’m not about to hand over to any son. The will of the Lord be done in Jesus’ name,” Kumuyi declared.

This announcement comes amid ongoing conversations about hereditary succession models in Nigerian churches, a topic that continues to generate significant interest.
