Davido Criticizes Former Aide Over Election Remarks
Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has engaged in a public feud with Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the president, regarding comments made about the upcoming governorship election in Osun State.
The exchange began on social media platform X, where Davido expressed his excitement over a recent telephone conversation between President Bola Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. In his post, Davido noted that he was present during the call, stating that he “witnessed history.”
In response, Ahmad took to X to bookmark Davido’s post, suggesting it would serve as a point of reference should the results of the August 15 governorship election not favor Davido. “I know you will come back here to lament if the August 15 results don’t go your way,” Ahmad wrote.
Davido quickly retorted, referencing Ahmad’s disappointing performance in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, where he secured only 16 votes. “You got 16 votes, bro, in the primaries. STFU,” Davido responded.
The conversation escalated as Davido accused Ahmad of failing to effect change in his community during his eight-year tenure under the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. He criticized Ahmad’s measure of success, implying it was based on superficial accolades rather than meaningful impact.
“Success is measured by sold-out arenas, billions of streams, and global influence, not just an award,” Davido remarked. He continued, “You had government backing and still couldn’t convince enough people to support you in your small constituency. You spent eight years with the ex-president and couldn’t make a change in your poverty-stricken community.”
In closing, he emphasized his commitment to inspiring future generations while suggesting Ahmad’s political aspirations were reliant on future government positions.
