In a troubling family dispute that has emerged following the kidnapping of Chief Joseph Ezeokafor, the chairman of Jezco Group, his daughter Blessing Ezeokafor has publicly accused her younger brother, Eberechukwu Ezeokafor, known as Jowizaza, of contributing to their father’s predicament.
Blessing Ezeokafor contended that her brother’s ostentatious display of wealth on social media led the kidnappers to believe the family was affluent, prompting them to raise the ransom demand from 700 million Naira to 1.5 billion Naira. She expressed her concern in a series of social media posts, asserting that the family is struggling with significant debt and is not as wealthy as her brother has suggested.
“The noise on social media has made it seem as if we have financial resources that do not exist,” Blessing stated. She claimed that Eberechukwu’s management of their father’s company had been detrimental, leading to his removal as a director and subsequent designation as an employee with a monthly salary of 1 million Naira.
In her posts, she described the financial strain the family is under, revealing that they owe banks significant sums, including 40 billion Naira to FCMB. She accused her brother of misleading others about their financial stability. “You are claiming we have wealth when the reality is that we are in debt,” she said.
Expressing her frustrations directly to the kidnappers, Blessing implored them to release her father, stating, “Please leave my dad alone. They don’t have money; it is audio money.” She emphasized the urgency of her father’s need for medication, stressing the impact of the situation on their family.
Despite criticism for sharing personal matters publicly, Blessing defended her choice to raise awareness about their circumstances. “If I don’t speak out, how will the kidnappers understand we cannot fulfill their demands?” she asked, highlighting her concerns over her father’s safety.
The family’s complex circumstances continue to unfold as they navigate this crisis, with Blessing vowing to hold her brother accountable for the turmoil that has ensued.
