You’re Bigger Than Grammy – Odumeje Encourages Davido After Award Loss

Nigerian Cleric Encourages Davido Following Grammy Setback
Nigerian cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, offered words of encouragement to Afrobeats artist Davido after his recent loss at the 68th Grammy Awards.
During a church service, Odumeje downplayed the significance of the Grammy Awards, asserting that Davido’s accomplishments extend far beyond mere trophies. He emphasized that the singer’s reputation, career, and influence already establish him as a leading figure in the music industry.
Odumeje described Davido as a rare talent, stating that the artist’s life and journey in music represent an achievement in themselves. According to the cleric, Davido has garnered substantial recognition through his impact on fans and the broader music community.
In his remarks, Odumeje urged Davido not to let criticism or disappointments diminish his joy or confidence. He advised the singer to remain focused, seek new inspiration, and continue creating music that surprises audiences.
Furthermore, he cautioned Davido to disregard negative influences, emphasizing that the artist has already reached significant heights and should not allow external voices to undermine his drive or value.
Davido was nominated for Best African Music Performance for his song “With You,” a collaboration with Omah Lay. Other nominees in the category included Burna Boy, Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Tyla, who ultimately won the award for the second consecutive year.
