Nollywood Actor Saheed Balogun Reveals Cause of Daughter’s Death

The family of veteran Nollywood actor Saheed Balogun has confirmed that his late daughter, Zeenat Balogun, passed away from complications related to sickle cell disease. Zeenat, who was also an actress and the actor’s firstborn child, died in October 2024.

Her sudden passing sparked concern and speculation among fans regarding the circumstances of her death. In acknowledgment of her memory, Kahlid Balogun, Zeenat’s stepbrother, announced the cause of her death on Wednesday. He shared a tribute video created by her siblings and friends to honor her posthumous birthday.

In his Instagram post, Kahlid expressed, “We only die when we are forgotten. Today, the Balogun family remembers and celebrates the life of our beloved firstborn, Zeenat Balogun.”

He emphasized Zeenat’s resilience in her battle with sickle cell anemia, stating that she faced her challenges with strength and grace. Kahlid noted that while Zeenat is no longer physically present, her legacy continues to inspire those who knew her.

The commemoration coincided with World Sickle Cell Day, a fitting moment to raise awareness about the condition and acknowledge those affected by it. Zeenat Balogun was born to Saheed Balogun and his first wife, Sherifat, prior to his marriage to actress Fathia Balogun.
