2027: No pathway for Peter Obi’s victory - APGA Chairman

APGA Chairman Declares No Pathway for Peter Obi in 2027 Presidential Race
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, has asserted that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), faces significant challenges in securing victory in the upcoming 2027 general election.
In an interview broadcast on Arise Television’s The Morning Show Wednesday, Ezeokenwa emphasized that it would be strategically advantageous for the South-East region to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Ezeokenwa indicated that APGA would focus on persuading voters in the South-East to rally behind Tinubu, rather than highlighting potential votes from Anambra State.
“It is about presenting our people with the truth that, as painful as it is, there is no viable pathway for the victory of our so-called brother, Peter Obi, in this election,” Ezeokenwa stated.
He advocated for aligning with Tinubu’s aspirations, asserting that such a move would best serve the interests of the Igbo people and reflect APGA’s official stance in the lead-up to the election.
“It is in our strategic interest as Ndigbo to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. That is where APGA stands, and we will do everything possible to convince our people to vote for his candidacy,” Ezeokenwa added.
His comments come amid shifting political dynamics ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo recently appointed as the coordinator for Tinubu’s campaign in the state.
Soludo, a member of APGA, has emerged as a notable figure within the opposition, drawing attention to the party’s stance in the presidential contest.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, previously ran as the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election. He is now pursuing the presidency under the NDC for the upcoming polls.
