66th Independence: Kaduna Imam prays for Nigeria, Tinubu, Uba Sani
Kaduna State Government held special prayers for peace, stability, and economic prosperity at Sultan Bello Mosque as part of the 66th Independence Day celebrations, which will conclude with a parade on October 1.
The prayers, led by Deputy Chief Imam Malam Abdullahi Aliyu, took place following the Jumaat service, attended by Kaduna State Secretary Dr. AbdulKadir Muázu Meyere, senior government officials, and members of the Muslim community.
In his supplication, Malam Abdullahi prayed for wisdom and guidance for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani as they lead the nation and the state, respectively.
The Deputy Chief Imam urged political leaders and citizens to uphold values of trust, truthfulness, and integrity as essential to national development. He reminded attendees that political office and temporal power are fleeting.
“God tests us with trust, our wealth, our families, and the positions He has given us—whether big or small—to see how we manage them with honesty, truthfulness, and fairness,” he said.
He emphasized that honesty is a divine obligation relevant to both governance and commerce. “In all our actions, we must consider if there is trust and truthfulness. Maintaining trust elevates one’s status, while betraying it can lead to severe consequences,” he added. He also reminded the audience that no matter how long one lives, only good deeds accompany a person in death.
Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, Commissioner for Information and Culture, outlined additional events for the Independence Day countdown, including an inter-denominational church service on Sunday at Living Faith Church, Barnawa, where Attorney General Dr. James Kanyip will represent the governor.
The highlight of the celebrations will be an official parade at Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna, set to be presided over by Governor Uba Sani on Thursday, October 1.
