‘Dadiyata killed in my presence’ – Mattawale’s ex-SSA, Musa Kamarawa alleges

Former Aide Alleges Murder of Critic in Kaduna Disappearance
Musa Muhammad Kamarawa, a former Senior Special Assistant to Zamfara State’s ex-Governor Bello Matawalle, has publicly alleged that Abubakar Idris, known as Dadiyata, was killed in his presence. The claim, presented in Hausa, has circulated widely on various social media platforms.
On Thursday, Kamarawa submitted a petition to the Inspector General of Police, asserting that he had been threatened by certain police officers.
Dadiyata, a lecturer and noted government critic, was abducted by gunmen from his home in Kaduna on August 1, 2019, and has not been located since. His abduction is believed to be linked to his outspoken views on governance in northern Nigeria.
Political commentator Imran Wakili echoed the need for an inquiry, stating that Kamarawa’s allegations warrant serious attention. He emphasized the importance of a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation.
Bakatsine, a journalist specializing in counter-insurgency and security issues, also called for an investigation into the serious allegations, describing them as significant accusations involving enforced disappearance and potential extrajudicial killings.
In a related development, Kamarawa accused two police officers, CSP Hussaini Gimba and CSP Hassan Gimba, of extortion and conducting what he termed a “partial investigation” against him. He claimed the officers pressured him to withhold information about his relationship with Matawalle during their interrogations.
Kamarawa detailed in his petition the threats he faced from the officers, comparing them to the alleged treatment of Dadiyata and another individual, Saminu S/Fada Gusau, during their time in Operations Yaki in Kaduna. He expressed concerns over being prevented from mentioning his past role as SSA during Matawalle’s governorship.
Kamarawa also stated that the officers were primarily interested in his connections with former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, whom he claimed was their main target. He urged that the motives behind the officers’ actions be investigated.
The allegations have drawn significant attention, prompting calls for accountability and transparency from various quarters.
