Accord condemns killing of LG woman leader’s son by political thugs in Osun

Accord Party Condemns Killing of Kolade Eluyera in Osun State

The Accord Party has condemned the shooting death of Kolade Eluyera, the son of its Woman Leader in Irewole Local Government Area, Osun State. Eluyera was reportedly killed Friday near Onireke Mosque in Ikire.

In a statement issued by Barrister Maxwell Mgbuden, the party’s National Chairman, Accord expressed its devastation over the tragic incident, describing Eluyera as a “promising young man.” The party’s statement extended condolences to his family, urging for strength and comfort during this difficult time.

“Certainly, his death will not be in vain. Kolade Eluyera has paid the supreme price in our collective quest for a better, greater, and prosperous Osun State,” the statement read.

Accord called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the murder, along with any individuals who may have sponsored the crime. The party expressed its disappointment with security agencies for their failure to prevent violence against its members and the destruction of properties, including Imole Campaign and Accord billboards throughout the state.

“The security agencies should take their statutory duties seriously,” the party stated.

Accord also criticized what it described as the “politics of bitterness” and vowed to resist forces seeking to destabilize the state. The party emphasized that the people of Osun have rejected such tactics and expressed confidence in their continued support for Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The statement noted, “Governor Ademola Adeleke is a man of the people, a servant-leader with abundant kindness. The people of Osun State have never had it so good in government’s delivery of the dividends of democracy in spite of deliberate acts of sabotage.”

Accord asserted that the public is committed to continuing Adeleke’s initiatives, expressing readiness to support his re-election in the upcoming election on August 15, 2026.

The party urged voters to take their future into their own hands and ensure that their votes count, advocating for transparent electoral processes free from manipulation or vote-buying.

“Election is the beauty of democracy. Let us deepen representative governance by making the upcoming governorship poll credible and transparent,” Accord stated.
