Zulum assures safe return of 48 abducted schoolchildren in Borno

Governor Zulum Assures Mussa Community of Ongoing Rescue Efforts for Abducted Schoolchildren
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum visited Uba town on Tuesday to reassure residents of Mussa community in Askira Uba Local Government Area regarding the safe return of 48 schoolchildren kidnapped last week.
During his visit, Zulum extended his condolences to the Emir of Uba, Alhaji Ali Ibn Isma’ila Mamza II, as well as to the families of the abducted children and the broader community affected by the incident. He emphasized that the Federal Government, local security agencies, and the state government are actively working to secure the release of the victims.
The governor noted that military and police units have been deployed to enhance security in the region and assist in ongoing rescue operations. He pledged to reinforce security measures in Askira, Uba, and nearby communities to prevent future incidents.
Zulum also made an appeal to the abductors, urging them to release the children, whom he described as innocent minors deserving of care and protection.
The Emir of Uba reported that the abduction occurred on Friday, May 15, and involved 37 primary school pupils, six secondary school students, and five other local residents.
