Edo State Police Deploy 6,000 Operatives for Eid-el-Kabir Celebration
Edo State Police Command has deployed 6,000 personnel to ensure security during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. State Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika announced the deployment in a statement provided to reporters in Benin City by Deputy Superintendent of Police Eno Ikoedem.
The officers were drawn from various units, including the Police Mobile Force, State Intelligence Department, Explosives Ordinance Devices, and other operational teams. According to Agbonika, these personnel will be strategically positioned at Eid prayer grounds, recreational areas, markets, motor parks, and along major highways to prevent criminal activities and enhance public safety.
Agbonika emphasized that this deployment is part of a comprehensive security strategy designed to promote a peaceful and safe celebration across the state. In coordination with other security agencies, the police have intensified efforts to increase visibility through patrols, intelligence gathering, and surveillance operations leading up to and during the festivities.
Wishing a happy Eid-el-Kabir to the Muslim community, Agbonika urged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and conscious of their surroundings throughout the celebration. He also warned potential troublemakers that law enforcement is prepared to respond decisively to anyone compromising public safety.
He encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or security agency.
