Police debunk rumoured attacks on schools in Niger

Niger State Police Dismiss Reports of School Attacks
NIGER, Nigeria — The Niger State Police Command has refuted claims that schools in the Bosso, Kpakungu, Sabon-Wuse, and Lambata areas were attacked by armed individuals. Authorities characterized these reports as inaccurate and misleading.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed that personnel from the Command visited the schools in question and found no evidence of any such incidents.
The police urged the public to disregard the false information, suggesting it was disseminated by individuals seeking to instill fear and panic within the community and the education sector.
Further, the statement noted that an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for spreading these false reports.
Niger State Police Commissioner CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman has directed Divisional Police Officers to enhance cooperation with school administrators as part of an ongoing initiative to ensure school safety.
Elleman assured the public that police patrols around educational institutions will persist to safeguard students, staff, and nearby residents.
The Command also encouraged the community to report any suspicious activities or security issues using its emergency contact numbers: 0703 196 4389, 0803 223 3454, and 0916 880 2621.
