Ogun State Police Arrest Security Guard for Alleged Sexual Assault

Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old security guard, Abraham Anekaly, accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in the Abule-Ijoko area of Ifo Local Government.

The alleged incident occurred on Tuesday night when the victim was approached by Anekaly while walking home. Authorities say he threatened her with a firearm and forcibly took her to his residence.

According to a statement from police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the arrest followed a rapid, intelligence-based response from detectives at the Agbado Division. The statement details that a locally made, single-barreled firearm, purportedly used to threaten the victim, was recovered during the arrest.

The event was reported to authorities early on June 10, 2026, by a family member of the victim. It was noted that Anekaly allegedly attempted to take the girl’s belongings in addition to the assault.

Following the report, detectives initiated an immediate investigation. The victim was provided with a medical form and subsequently taken to a hospital for examination and treatment.

The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation, with Anekaly remaining in custody pending the outcome of the inquiry and potential prosecution.

In response to the incident, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, emphasized the command’s commitment to combating sexual and gender-based violence, particularly against minors. He urged the public to report any instances of abuse or suspicious behavior to law enforcement, assuring that all reports would be handled with urgency and professionalism.
