Police confirm abduction of two pupils by tricycle operator in Abia

Two Pupils Kidnapped in Abia State

The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of two pupils in the Nsulu community of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area. The incident occurred last week as the children were returning home from school.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Isiala Ngwa North reported that the abduction had been formally documented. Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Abia State Police Command, indicated that an investigation is underway.

Details surrounding the incident reveal that the pupils were offered a ride by an unidentified tricycle operator during inclement weather. On reaching a designated location, the operator purportedly informed the children that he had run out of fuel and requested that the older pupils go on an errand to purchase some. He handed them one thousand Naira and a jerry can for this task.

Upon returning, the older children found both the tricycle operator and the two younger pupils missing, according to Chinaka.

She has assured the public that the case is under thorough investigation.

In a separate statement, Barrah Chiedozie, the Chairman of the Umuosu Development Association, confirmed the abduction and noted that the missing children have not yet been located.
