Yobe Police Rescue Four Girls from Kidnapping Attempt

The Yobe State Police Command successfully rescued four young girls from an attempted kidnapping in Fika Local Government Area. The Commissioner of Police has vowed to pursue the criminal gang responsible for the attack.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 28, 2026, around 2:23 p.m., when unidentified gunmen assaulted Didim Village, abducting girls aged between 15 and 17 years. This information was confirmed in a statement released on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim.

The Fika Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call regarding the abduction. Police operatives stationed at the Kukar Gadu Outstation, in collaboration with local vigilantes, quickly mobilized for a rescue mission.

Reinforcements from the division were subsequently deployed, resulting in the safe release of all four victims, who were unharmed. Following the rescue, the girls were transported to Kukar Gadu Primary Health Care Centre for medical evaluation and support before being reunited with their families.

The Command has stated that efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing. Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin has instructed that operations continue with a focus on intelligence-led initiatives to ensure the culprits are arrested and brought to justice.

The police have called on the public to provide credible and timely information regarding suspicious individuals, movements, or vehicles.
