US House of Reps honours Uzodimma for transformative leadership
Imo State Governor Recognized for Leadership Ahead of House of Lords Address
LONDON — Ahead of his address to the House of Lords on Friday, Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma received special recognition from the United States House of Representatives for exemplary leadership.
In addition to addressing the House of Lords, Uzodimma is set to receive the “African Inspirational Leadership and Good Governance Award” from the African Leadership Organization.
The South Carolina House of Representatives passed a motion to commend Uzodimma for his transformative leadership, which follows his strategic 3R agenda of rehabilitation, reconstruction, and recovery. The motion was introduced by Representative Rosalyn D. Henderson-Meyes, highlighting the governor’s extensive investments in road infrastructure, urban renewal, and digital transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing public service delivery and fostering sustainable growth.
The resolution, signed by Speaker G. Murrel Smith Jr. and Clerk Charles F. Reid, characterized Uzodimma as a respected leader committed to inclusive governance, infrastructure development, and the economic revitalization of Imo State. It emphasized his role as one of Nigeria’s leading reformers focused on long-term development.
The House of Representatives acknowledged that the honor, awarded to only 40 Africans, recognized Uzodimma’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business through strategic reforms and investor-friendly policies, which have heightened the state’s appeal to both domestic and international investors. Notable projects, such as the Assumpta Twin Flyover and the Orashi Energy Free Trade Zone, position Imo State as a key player in regional development.
Receiving the award in London on behalf of the governor, Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, described the recognition as a significant acknowledgment of Uzodimma’s dedication to the state’s development.
Emelumba expressed gratitude to the South Carolina House of Representatives for the honor, stating it would motivate the governor to further advance efforts for Imo State, Nigeria, and the broader African continent. He noted that the recognition from global institutions underscores Uzodimma’s commitment to transformative leadership in Africa.
