Corn sellers drive luxurious cars in UK – Portable defends Remi Tinubu
Portable Defends First Lady’s Advice to Unemployed Women
Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has publicly defended First Lady Remi Tinubu’s recent comments encouraging unemployed women to pursue small-scale businesses.
Mrs. Tinubu faced criticism after suggesting that women consider frying bean cakes, or akara, and selling roasted corn as viable means of supporting themselves.
In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Portable argued that Mrs. Tinubu’s message had been misinterpreted. He emphasized the importance of small-scale enterprises, stating that many successful individuals in Nigeria were raised with support from their parents’ small businesses.
“Many wealthy people in this country were trained by their mothers who sold pepper and roasted corn. During my visit to London, I even saw a corn seller driving a luxury Benz,” Portable said.
He contended that there is nothing inappropriate about the First Lady’s advice, highlighting the potential for small-scale ventures to be lucrative.
