Ekiti court jails two men for roaming streets naked

Ado-Ekiti Court Sentences Two Men for Public Indecency

Ado-Ekiti — An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court has sentenced two men, Adeniyi Oluwole, 49, and Ogunlola John, 30, to one month in prison without the option of a fine for indecent exposure.

The defendants faced a one-count charge of conduct likely to breach public peace, in violation of Section 181(i)(d)(h) of the Ekiti State Laws, 2021. Both men pleaded guilty when the charge was presented.

During the proceedings, prosecuting counsel Akinwale Oriyomi informed the court that the offense occurred around 4 a.m. on July 13, in the vicinity of the palace area of Ado-Ekiti. He stated that the men were seen walking naked in a public area, which prompted their arrest.

Oriyomi argued that their actions posed a risk of public disturbance, warranting legal action. Defending counsel Ogunleye Abiola represented the defendants during the hearing.

In delivering the ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun noted that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence, which was reinforced by the defendants’ guilty pleas.
