IPAC projects 2.5m electorate to vote in 2027 general election in Cross River

Cross River’s IPAC Projects 2.5 Million Voters for Upcoming Elections
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River State has estimated that at least 2.5 million eligible voters will participate in the upcoming general elections in 2027.
Effiom Edet Okon, the chairman of IPAC in Cross River, announced the projection during a recent press conference. He noted that the council has been actively mobilizing political parties across the 18 local government areas to encourage voter registration among their supporters.
Okon emphasized the collaborative efforts with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), civil society organizations, youth and women’s groups, traditional rulers, religious leaders, market associations, and local community stakeholders during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The goal is to ensure that no eligible citizen is overlooked in the registration process.
“Today, IPAC confidently declares that, with ongoing mobilization and the cooperation of INEC and all stakeholders, Cross River State is on track to achieve at least 2.5 million votes in the 2027 general elections,” Okon stated.
He added that achieving this target requires concerted efforts from all involved. “A larger voter population translates to a stronger democratic mandate, enhanced political significance, increased national recognition, and a more influential voice for Cross River State in shaping Nigeria’s future,” Okon explained.
In the 2023 general election, 1.766 million voters were registered in the state, which has an estimated population of over 5 million.
Officials have urged eligible residents to register before the conclusion of the CVR, reinforcing the message that “democracy begins with voter registration. Without a voter’s card, there is no voice; no registration means no participation.”
