Discontent Surfaces Within OK Movement Ahead of 2027 Election
Ladipo Johnson, spokesperson for Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has confirmed that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is dissatisfied with ongoing leadership disputes within the OK Movement.
During an interview on Arise Television, Johnson acknowledged the tensions but asserted that the disagreements would not hinder the movement’s political goals as the 2027 general election approaches.
“This crisis represents a temporary distraction,” Johnson stated. “It should not prompt unilateral actions that might create divisions among supporters of the potential Obi-Kwankwaso alliance.”
He urged members to focus on enhancing the movement’s organizational structure instead of letting conflicts undermine their efforts.
Johnson attributed the discord to differences between certain members and the movement’s leadership but expressed optimism that the issues could be resolved. He also noted that Obi had been informed about the situation.
“I met with the presidential candidate last night along with the Director General. He’s not happy about the whole situation,” Johnson said.
Johnson’s remarks come amid reports of internal strife within the OK Movement, which was established to galvanize support for the proposed alliance ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Despite the controversy, he emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on building a viable political platform.
