Osun 2026: Reject APC over poor workers welfare — Gov Adeleke to voters

Osun Governor Calls for Action Against APC Ahead of Election
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Accord Party’s candidate for the upcoming governorship election, has urged residents to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 election. He criticized the APC for what he described as neglect of civil servants during its previous tenure.
In a statement posted on his X account on Thursday, Adeleke appealed to eligible voters to support his re-election bid, emphasizing the importance of moving beyond what he characterized as an era of hardship for public workers.
“The hardships faced by civil servants under the previous administration cannot be overlooked,” Adeleke stated, highlighting claims that many workers relied on half salaries, struggling to meet basic needs. He asserted, “We will not allow APC to take Osun back to the days when civil servants had to beg their neighbours for food.”
Adeleke criticized the APC’s governance, accusing its members of creating economic despair among public workers. He called on voters to engage actively in the upcoming election, advocating for what he termed a path of progress and good governance under the Accord Party.
On August 15, “I urge every eligible voter to send a clear and resounding message that Osun has chosen the path of progress, compassion, and good governance,” he said. “Together, we will protect the mandate of the people and keep Osun moving forward.”
In a related statement, Adeleke defended his administration’s record on workers’ welfare, claiming that improving the lives of civil servants has been a priority since he took office. “APC’s disdain for civil servants is well known in Osun State,” he remarked, asserting that the government has consistently focused on their well-being.
Adeleke also addressed the recent freezing of state government accounts, expressing confidence that this situation would galvanize public support ahead of the election. “The unjust freezing of state accounts will only strengthen the resolve of our people to ensure Osun never returns to the era of darkness,” he declared.
“The choice is clear: progress over regression, good governance over neglect. Accord over APC,” he concluded.
