Two Farmers Abducted in Ondo State
Two farmers were kidnapped by armed assailants in the Parubber community of the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local government area of Ondo State. The incident occurred while the victims were working on their farms, after which they were forcibly taken into nearby bushland.
Pastor Yemi Omowale, who managed to escape during the attack, reported that the assailants were armed with AK-47 rifles and machetes. Omowale operates a piggery farm and stated that the kidnappers have contacted the wife of one of the victims, demanding a ransom of 100 million naira for their release.
“We’ve reported the incident to the police and the Amotekun Corps in our area. They are still in communication with the victim’s wife, inquiring about how much money she has raised. We are urging the security agencies and the government to assist us in securing the safe return of our colleagues,” said Omowale.
In response, Jimoh Abayomi, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed that a joint security team, consisting of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, local hunters, and vigilante groups, has been deployed to the area to conduct a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.
