Police rescue Sarkin Noman Kano after foiling kidnap attempt

The Kano State Police Command reported the successful rescue of Alhaji Yusif Nadabo, the Sarkin Noman Kano, following a kidnapping attempt in the Garun Mallam Local Government Area.

In a statement released Saturday by Police Spokesperson CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, authorities detailed that the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 PM on August 29. A group of suspected bandits entered Garun Mallam town, firing gunshots into the air, during which they abducted Alhaji Nadabo. Three local residents were shot and sustained injuries during the attack.

The injured individuals were identified as Yusif Nasiru, Salisu Garba, and Ibrahim Hassan, all aged 20 and residents of Garun Mallam.

Upon receiving a distress call, the police promptly dispatched tactical teams, patrol officers, and reinforcements from neighboring divisions to the area. Working in conjunction with community members, the police pursued the fleeing suspects, leading to the abandonment of Alhaji Nadabo.

Authorities confirmed that he was rescued unharmed. Following the incident, both the rescued victim and the injured residents were transported to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical care.

To bolster security in the region, the police have intensified patrols in and around Garun Mallam and initiated a manhunt for the suspects. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori commended the rapid response of law enforcement and expressed gratitude to local residents, vigilante groups, and the Neighbourhood Watch Corps for their assistance during the rescue operation. He encouraged the community to remain calm and provide any information that could aid in identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attack.
