‘Obi squandered his opportunity to be Nigeria’s president’ – Kenneth Okonkwo
Kenneth Okonkwo, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has criticized Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), for missing a significant opportunity to become a transformative leader.
In a recent interview on the Selah Meditate Podcast, Okonkwo evaluated the political landscape by discussing President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Obi. The actor-turned-politician expressed that the Nigerian electorate was ready to support Obi in a way that bypassed the typical challenges tied to securing political office.
“Peter Obi had the chance to achieve greatness but squandered it himself,” Okonkwo stated. He likened political opportunities to the process of making an omelette, emphasizing that sacrifices are necessary for success. “No system will give you an egg without breaking it. You can’t make an omelette without breaking an egg,” he added.
Okonkwo further remarked that significant sacrifices were necessary for Obi to solidify the support he had garnered from the public. “He’s a man that God and the people would have loved to give what he wants, but he needs to make the necessary sacrifices to hold onto that free gift,” he asserted.
He also noted that the political context was unique, stating that for the first time, Nigerians appeared willing to grant political power to a candidate without the expectation of conventional incentives that often accompany elections.
