Tyson Fury has labeled Anthony Joshua as “weak-minded” and expressed frustration over Joshua’s indecision regarding the date and venue for their anticipated heavyweight boxing match.
In a video posted on Instagram on Sunday, Fury, 38, accused Joshua of withdrawing from the much-anticipated bout. The two former heavyweight champions have been negotiating for a showdown, with demands from Fury for a confirmation intensifying. Last week, he referred to Joshua as a “coward” amid frustrations over the ongoing uncertainty.
The pair were expected to face off in November at Madison Square Garden in New York City. However, the chosen venue has faced considerable backlash from British boxing fans, who prefer Wembley Stadium for the encounter.
Fury’s recent comments suggest that Joshua’s lack of a definitive response regarding the venue has cast doubt on the fight’s viability. With their match in jeopardy, Fury reached out to Oleksandr Usyk, suggesting a potential trilogy fight.
“In the absence of clarity from Joshua, I am looking to fight Oleksandr Usyk instead,” Fury stated. “You know he is weak-minded and would never dare to fight me, while you, Oleksandr, have shown the courage to step into the ring with me twice.”
Fury urged Usyk to accept a rematch in November, emphasizing his interest in finding a new opponent if Joshua does not confirm. Fury has previously faced Usyk and suffered two defeats at the hands of the two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.
