Police Arrest 43-Year-Old Man for Alleged Murder in Ogun State
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Edebiri Temitope, 43, in connection with the death of his neighbor, Micheal Oje, 38. The incident occurred in Bluestone Treasure Estate, located in the Mowe-Ofada area of Ogun State.
According to authorities, the altercation was triggered on August 26, when Oje was accused of hugging and playing roughly with Temitope’s three-year-old son. Oje, a graduate of Guidance and Counselling from Benue State University, had just returned home from work when the child ran toward him for a hug.
Peter Adum, a cousin of the deceased, reported that Oje playfully lifted the child into the air before retiring to his room to rest. Adum recounted that Temitope knocked on Oje’s door while he was sleeping and confronted him about the alleged rough play. After Oje’s explanation, the situation escalated.
“That was when the man started slapping Mike,” Adum said. “He picked up a bamboo stick from the ground and hit him about three times. Mike fell and died on the spot.”
Following the incident, Temitope and his family reportedly fled. However, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, announced on Friday that Temitope has been taken into custody and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
“Edebiri Temitope, a male aged 43 years, has been arrested in connection with the death of Oje Michael Eje,” Babaseyi stated.
