AFCON 2027 qualifier: Super Eagles fight back to defeat Madagascar
Nigeria rallied from an early setback to secure a 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their opening match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles fell behind shortly after kickoff, conceding a goal via a header, which surprised supporters at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
However, two players making their international debuts turned the tide for Nigeria. George Ihenikane and Moses Usor each found the net, scoring goals on either side of halftime to lead the three-time African champions to victory.
Looking ahead, Nigeria will face Guinea-Bissau in their next qualifying match on Tuesday.
