AFCON qualifiers: Guinea-Bissau players react after 3-0 thrashing of Nigeria
Guinea-Bissau’s national football team celebrated a surprising 3-0 victory over Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their second match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying rounds. The match took place at the 24 de Setembro National Stadium in Bissau.
Franculino Djú, Mama Baldé, and Álvaro Djaló each found the net for Guinea-Bissau, propelling the home team to a commanding win.
Norberto Bercique Gomes Betuncal, known as Beto, addressed media following the game. He emphasized the importance of maintaining their momentum as they move forward in the qualifying campaign. “There are still several games to be played. Therefore, we need to continue playing well and winning in order to achieve our goals,” Beto said, as reported by O Democrata.
Guinea-Bissau remains unbeaten in the current AFCON qualifying series, previously securing a 2-0 victory against Tanzania. However, Beto urged his teammates to stay grounded as they prepare for a rematch against Nigeria in Uyo scheduled for March 2027.
