Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara Dissolves Executive Council
RIVERS STATE — Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially dissolved the State Executive Council, expressing gratitude to the members for their service.
In a statement released on Thursday and signed by Chief Press Secretary Onwuka Nzeshi, Governor Fubara instructed all Commissioners and Special Advisers to transition their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries immediately.
“The Governor has expressed his deepest appreciation to the outgoing members of the Executive Council,” the statement noted, wishing them well in their future endeavors.
This decision to dissolve the cabinet comes just 48 hours after Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike disclosed ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at addressing the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State.
Wike stated that President Bola Tinubu recently held a closed-door meeting with key political figures from Rivers, including Governor Fubara and his predecessor, to mitigate tensions stemming from the ongoing power struggle in the oil-rich state. The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa, included several other leaders from Rivers.
