Kebbi govt moves to strengthen security in Sakaba, Zuru Emirate
KEBBI, Nigeria — Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris announced plans to enhance security in Sakaba Local Government Area and the Zuru Emirate following a series of attacks that have displaced local residents.
During a visit to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sakaba, Idris assured those affected that the state government would intensify security operations to facilitate their safe return to their communities.
The governor revealed that additional security equipment, including armored vehicles, has been ordered for deployment in areas experiencing heightened insecurity. He noted ongoing upgrades to the Zuru Barracks to accommodate more security personnel and emphasized the provision of operational vehicles and equipment to enhance their effectiveness.
Idris reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating with both federal and local authorities to restore peace and safeguard lives and property. “Where the Federal Government’s reach falls short, we will intervene to ensure our people can sleep peacefully and farmers can return to their fields without fear,” he stated.
The governor also promised further relief assistance for those displaced as security agencies continue their efforts to reestablish normalcy in impacted areas. He urged residents to support security personnel and maintain law-abiding behavior, cautioning against actions or statements that could create fear or hinder ongoing security operations. Idris additionally called on political leaders to refrain from politicizing the security situation.
Emir of Zuru Sanusi Mikailu Sami and Dauda Muhammad Sakaba, the Chairman of Sakaba Local Government Area, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in restoring peace and security in the region.
