Gov Idris’ aide threatens to bar Malami from Kebbi over alleged billboard vandalism

An aide to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has issued a warning to former Attorney General Abubakar Malami regarding the alleged removal of political billboards in the region. ATM Jega, who oversees cemetery affairs in the state, stated that Malami, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), may be barred from entering Kebbi if the vandalism does not cease.
Jega’s remarks came in response to accusations that individuals linked to Malami were dismantling campaign billboards across various locations in Kebbi State. He urged Malami to address the actions of his supporters, whom he accused of engaging in the destruction.
“We will prevent Abubakar Malami from entering Kebbi State if he does not stop his boys from tearing down our billboards,” Jega asserted.
He emphasized the need for immediate action if the alleged destruction continues. This incident highlights the escalating political tensions in Kebbi as preparations intensify for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
