2027: Olawepo-Hashim slams opposition figures in APC campaign council as ‘indiscipline, rascality’

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, the presidential candidate for the Accord Party, criticized the inclusion of opposition figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, calling it “indiscipline and rascality.”
In an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Olawepo-Hashim responded to the appointment of notable opposition members, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, to the APC’s campaign council ahead of the upcoming 2027 general elections.
When asked whether the inclusion signified political maturity or was a matter of political survival, Olawepo-Hashim dismissed both interpretations, asserting instead that it reflected a lack of discipline within the party.
“This is simply indiscipline and rascality,” he stated.
Olawepo-Hashim further argued that Adeleke’s involvement in the APC campaign council would not guarantee support for President Bola Tinubu from voters in Osun State. He emphasized that Adeleke’s electoral success did not give him the authority to sway the voting preferences of the state’s residents.
“Governor Adeleke, the fact that he won his election cannot compel the people of Osun State to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
To illustrate his point, Olawepo-Hashim referenced the 2011 general elections, noting that Osun State voters did not align with the political inclinations of then-Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu after he allegedly backed the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Goodluck Jonathan, over the Action Congress of Nigeria’s candidate, Nuhu Ribadu.
He argued that the electorate in Osun had a history of making independent political choices despite external influences.
“Osun people are incredibly honorable; what we call Omoluabi in Yoruba. They are ideological, and they have a great history; they do what they believe,” he remarked.
The Accord Party candidate affirmed that Adeleke’s political stance would not hinder his party’s campaign efforts in Osun State for the presidential election.
“I still believe that regardless of what Governor Adeleke is doing, Osun people are still going to vote for the Accord Party at the presidential election,” he concluded.
