BREAKING: NNPCL increases petrol price amid disputed fuel discount

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Raises Petrol Prices Amid Discount Announcement

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to N1,405 per litre, up from the previous rate of N1,370. This change took effect on Friday, following an announcement made on Thursday regarding discounted fuel prices.

Sources familiar with the situation, who requested anonymity, confirmed the timing of the price adjustment after checks by DAILY POST revealed the new pump price.

Earlier in the week, NNPCL had briefly reverted its petrol price to N1,370 per litre after an earlier increase to N1,405. The latest rise indicates that fuel prices at NNPCL filling stations have climbed once more, despite the ongoing discourse surrounding the announced fuel discount.

Additionally, on Thursday, Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele introduced a proposed fixed gantry petrol price of N1,375 per litre, ahead of the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
