Arewa Consultative Forum Mourns Death of Afenifere Leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, an esteemed elder statesman and national leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere. His death occurred two days ago, as announced by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

In a statement released Thursday, Prof. Muhammad-Baba, National Publicity Secretary of ACF, praised Pa Fasoranti as a prominent nationalist, politician, and respected community leader. He described Fasoranti as a dedicated advocate for progressive politics and good governance, noting that he devoted much of his life to these ideals.

Pa Fasoranti lived a century, witnessing Nigeria’s achievements while lamenting the nation’s unfulfilled potential. The ACF highlighted his unwavering commitment to the quest for a better Nigeria, characterizing him as an indefatigable advocate for his people.

His leadership of Afenifere, a key Yoruba socio-cultural organization, is seen as a testament to his influence and legacy in Nigerian society. The statement remarked that his life epitomizes the principled leadership that has shaped Nigeria from its fight for independence through various political eras, including the First Republic, civil war, military rule, and the ongoing journey of democracy.

The ACF noted that the void left by Pa Fasoranti would be difficult to fill and acknowledged his substantial contributions to the nation and community. In their statement, the ACF framed his passing as a celebration of a life well-lived, while offering condolences to his family, friends, the Federal Government, and the Yoruba people, as well as to those who benefited from his mentorship.

The ACF concluded with a prayer for Pa Fasoranti’s eternal peace.
