NPFL: Warri Wolves supporter banned over alleged assault on match official

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a ban on Keno Iyaruwe, a supporter of Warri Wolves, preventing him from attending any league matches. This decision comes after Iyaruwe was accused of assaulting a match official during a game against Kano Pillars, a four-time champion, held in Ozoro on Sunday.
Reports indicate that Iyaruwe is currently in police custody in Warri. In accordance with the NPFL’s directive, Warri Wolves has committed to displaying Iyaruwe’s name and photograph at all stadium entrances to ensure he is barred from all club-related activities.
The club has emphasized its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding violence and any behavior that jeopardizes the safety, dignity, and integrity of match officials, players, and other associated parties. Following the incident, the NPFL has also fined Warri Wolves 4.2 million naira and penalized the club by deducting three points and three goals from their standings.
