UCL: Peter Schmeichel singles out five Man Utd players after 3-2 win over Roma

Manchester United’s comeback victory against AS Roma at Old Trafford has drawn praise for the impact of several key substitutions. Former player Peter Schmeichel highlighted the contributions of bench players Youri Tielemans, Lisandro Martínez, Shea Lacey, Matthijs de Ligt, and Mason Mount in the 3-2 win.
The match saw Bruno Fernandes open the scoring, followed by a brace from Matheus Cunha that helped United overcome an early 2-0 deficit. Schmeichel commented on the contrasting effectiveness of the substitutions, referencing the previous match against Chelsea where manager Michael Carrick’s changes did not yield positive results.
“Michael on Saturday vs. Chelsea made some substitutions that unfortunately did not have any kind of impact on the game,” Schmeichel told CBS Sports Golazo. “Today, he made substitutions that made an impact.”
Looking ahead, Manchester United is set to face Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.
