Bus conveying APC supporters to welcome Tinubu in Akwa Ibom crashes [VIDEO]

Several individuals sustained injuries following a crash involving an Akwa Ibom State Transport Corporation bus that was transporting supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to a welcome event for President Bola Tinubu in Akwa Ibom State.

Paul James, the Public Relations Officer for Road Safety Operations at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Akwa Ibom State Command, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Friday. He noted that authorities had not yet determined the total number of casualties or the circumstances leading to the accident.

According to reports from Vanguard, the injured individuals were among the party supporters mobilized to join Governor Umo Eno in greeting Tinubu during his visit to the state. The collision reportedly involved a bus carrying women en route to the airport and a security Hilux vehicle. Both vehicles suffered significant damage in the accident, which left several occupants requiring emergency assistance.

Witness Nsikakabasi Akpan shared a video capturing the aftermath of the crash, showing emergency responders and bystanders working to evacuate victims trapped in the wreckage. Akpan described the incident as taking place along Oron Road, where the bus transporting women to welcome the President collided with the security vehicle.

The accident occurred as President Bola Tinubu was in Akwa Ibom State for the inauguration of various projects and a rally at Godswill Akpabio Stadium. Further updates on the situation are expected as authorities continue their investigation.
