You are safe in Abia – Gov. Otti assures NYSC members

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has encouraged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assigned to the state to carry out their responsibilities without fear of insecurity.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony for the NYSC Batch C Stream II Corps members on Friday at the NYSC Permanent Site in Umunna, Bende Local Government Area, Otti, who was represented by Nwaobilor Ananaba, the Abia State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, assured the corps members of their safety.
Otti stated that his administration is collaborating with security agencies to ensure the protection of the corps members throughout their service in the state. He urged the NYSC participants to engage actively in their host communities and contribute to local development.
“We are working in collaboration with security and law enforcement agencies to ensure that our young men and women on national service are adequately protected across the state,” Otti said.
In addition, the governor addressed the issue of erosion affecting parts of the NYSC Permanent Site, promising action to prevent further damage to the facility.
Otti also announced that the Abia State government has begun disbursement of an enhanced state allowance for corps members.
During the event, Yunusa Tanimu, the State Coordinator of NYSC Abia State, emphasized the importance of discipline and respect for authority within the orientation camp, highlighting that the camp operates under strict regulations.
