Bizarre injury rubs out Bulldogs weapon

Star Canterbury Bulldog Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has been ruled out of this evening’s Netstrata Jubilee clash with the Cronulla Sharks due to a leg infection.

The former Warrior was struck down by the infection on Thursday night and was sent for a surgical wash-out at hospital and put on antibiotics. The good news is he’s now in a positive state and is expected to face the Parramatta Eels next week.

In other major injury news, superstar Cronulla halfback Shaun Johnson is making a long-awaited return from his Achilles rupture.

But that’s at the expense of dangerous playmaker Matt Moylan, who’s suffered a minor quadriceps injury.
