Russian Attacks in Kharkiv Region Result in Casualties
KHARKIV, Ukraine — A Russian attack on the Kharkiv region resulted in the deaths of two police officers during an evacuation in the village of Seredniy Burlyk on Saturday, as tensions between Moscow and Kyiv escalated. Oleh Syniehubov, head of Kharkiv’s regional administration, reported that the city and ten surrounding communities were targeted by Russian forces in the last 24 hours.
In addition to the fatalities, five individuals were wounded in the shelling in Seredniy Burlyk. Syniehubov noted that there were 175 recorded combat clashes in the region during the same 24-hour period. Russian forces made multiple attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses in the South-Slobozhansky area, specifically around the settlements of Staritsa, Lyman, Vovchansky Khutory, and Krugle.
Simultaneously, a separate Russian airstrike in Sumy injured three people, including two children aged five and 17, and a 70-year-old woman who required hospitalization. Local police reported that the attack destroyed two residential buildings and damaged at least ten neighboring houses, as well as a gas line.
Ukrainian Drone Strikes Target Russian Industrial Site
In a related incident, Ukrainian drones targeted an industrial site in Russia’s Udmurt Republic, injuring 11 people, with three individuals requiring hospitalization. Alexander Brechalov, the head of the Udmurt Republic, confirmed the attack via Telegram but did not provide further details about the facility. However, an unofficial Russian Telegram channel, ASTRA, suggested that the strike hit the Votkinsk Machine Building Plant, a significant state defense contractor responsible for producing Iskander ballistic missiles.
Ukraine’s military confirmed the drone strike and indicated that a fire was reported at the site. In another development, Ukrainian forces also targeted a gas processing plant in Russia’s Samara region, resulting in a fire.
In separate reports, Russia’s TASS news agency announced that Ukrainian drones attempted to attack production facilities in Almetyevsk, while Russian forces claimed control of the village of Karpivka in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine.
