University of Ibadan Student Dies After Suspected Ingestion of Insecticide
A student from the University of Ibadan has died after an incident involving a suspected insecticide ingestion. The individual, a third-year student, passed away on Sunday night.
Sources indicate that the student was discovered unconscious and in distress by a fellow student on the ground floor of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall. According to reports, he admitted to consuming a substance identified as “sniper,” an insecticide, prior to being found.
The student was transported to the university clinic, where he received initial treatment. Following stabilization, he was transferred to the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, where he was placed on life support. He ultimately succumbed to his condition later at the hospital.
Funmi Adetuyibi, the Public Relations Officer at UCH, confirmed the student’s death on Tuesday. “Yes, it is true. He was brought to the hospital. He is dead,” she stated.
The university community is mourning the loss of the student, whose name has not been publicly released.
