Bus Rapid Transit Vehicle Catches Fire on Mile 12 Bridge in Lagos
LAGOS — Passengers on a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle narrowly escaped injury Tuesday when the bus caught fire while traveling on the Mile 12 Bridge along Ikorodu Road.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred around mid-morning when the high-capacity bus suddenly burst into flames. Fortunately, passengers managed to evacuate swiftly and move to safety before the fire spread.
Emergency personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, along with other first responders, arrived promptly at the scene and extinguished the flames. A charred remains of the vehicle was later removed from the bridge to alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
As of the latest updates, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with the incident.
