Troops of 4 Brigade arrest 39-year-old suspected kidnapper, destroy shrine in Edo

Benin City, Edo State — A 39-year-old man, Omogbegha Solomon, has been arrested by troops from the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army for alleged kidnapping in Edo State.

The arrest took place during Operation IGBO DANU 1, conducted in collaboration with the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC). Soldiers raided a house in Ujemen, located in the Esan West Local Government Area, which was suspected to serve as a hideout for kidnappers.

Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 4 Brigade, confirmed the arrest in a statement distributed to the media in Benin City. According to Anyanwu, the troops found a shrine containing charms and photographs of various individuals in an abandoned room within the compound. The shrine was subsequently destroyed, and Solomon was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force’s Ekpoma Division for further investigation.

Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, Commander of the 4 Brigade, praised the troops for their effectiveness during the operation. He encouraged them to maintain their aggressive stance against criminal activities, in accordance with directives from Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, General Officer Commanding the 2 Division. Balogun assured residents of Edo State of the Brigade’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the region.
