Momodu’s 2027 postulation wild, baseless – Lagos APC Spokesman

Lagos APC Dismisses Momodu’s 2027 Election Speculation
By Olasunkanmi Akoni
LAGOS — The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected comments made by Dele Momodu suggesting that President Bola Tinubu would be vulnerable in the 2027 presidential election if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar runs alongside either Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi. The party labeled these remarks as speculative and unfounded.
Seye Oladejo, the APC spokesperson in Lagos, issued a statement on Tuesday addressing Momodu’s assertions. He described the comments as “premature” and lacking support from current political realities.
“There is absolutely nothing to justify such wild speculation,” Oladejo said. He added that the political landscape is showing clear signs of support for Tinubu as the upcoming national elections approach.
Oladejo further noted that many potential challengers are grappling with internal challenges within their political factions. He argued that some figures have already faced rejection from their constituencies, rendering claims of an impending electoral upset unrealistic.
The spokesperson emphasized that Tinubu’s administration is committed to implementing reforms aimed at stabilizing the Nigerian economy, improving national security, and fostering sustainable growth. He stated that the Renewed Hope Agenda is designed to address long-standing challenges and propel the nation toward economic recovery.
“Any notion that could undermine the progress currently being made is merely a distraction from those who do not wish Nigeria well,” Oladejo added. He asserted that Nigerians are capable of recognizing effective leadership and responsible governance.
He also advised the opposition to move beyond speculative commentary and engage in constructive dialogue that promotes national development. “The APC in Lagos State is confident that the Nigerian electorate will continue to support President Tinubu as his administration works to solidify ongoing reforms and advance growth across key economic sectors,” Oladejo concluded.
The party’s strong rebuttal comes as the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve in the lead-up to the 2027 election.
