Bandits kill two, kidnap children, widow of late Zamfara NUJ chairman and 8 others

Bandits have killed two persons, kidnapped eleven others including two children and wife of late NUJ chairman, Ibrahim Aliyu Mayanchi, at Mayanchi town in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state.

A family member of the late journalist, Mohammed Mayanchi, said the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, August 1, 2023, when the armed bandits attacked Mayanchi town. 

The family source, who spoke to the Nigerian Tribune, said the bandits attacked the late journalist’s home, abducted his two children, their mother and eight other persons in the area. 

“This is to bring to your notice that two of our late colleague’s children (Ibrahim Mayanchi – Pioneer chairman of Legacy Chapel) were abducted yesterday around midnight along with their mother. We are soliciting your prayers for their safe return,” Mohammed said. 

According to him, the bandits also killed two people and abducted the Vigilante group chairman of Mayanchi.
