‘Brilliant’ catch in vain as Aussies dominate

A substitute fielder takes a superb catch to end Glenn Maxwell’s innings!

Maxwell frustrated Sri Lanka with a knock of 23 runs from 12 balls, but he’s departing the middle after being caught at midwicket on the boundary.

Chamika Karunaratne digs the ball in short, Maxwell rocks onto his back foot and the substitute fielder, tip-toeing just centimetres inside the boundary, settles himself and takes the catch.

“Brilliant catch taken!” Mark Howard says in commentary.

“Karunaratne is pumped, Sri Lanka back in the game and the big gun Maxwell departs.”

The Australians, chasing 158 runs to win, are 3-89 from 12.2 overs.
