Desola Afod retracts warning to film practitioner amid backlash

Desola Afod Retracts Warning to Yoruba Film Industry

Desola Afod, former wife of film director Kunle Afod, has publicly retracted her recent warning directed at practitioners in the Yoruba film industry.

The 44-year-old actress faced significant backlash on social media after she accused members of the industry of disrespecting her. In her initial comments, Afod stated that many actors had mentioned her name without the due respect she felt she deserved.

Following her remarks, several actors, including Wumi Toriola, criticized Afod for addressing the entire industry rather than pinpointing those individuals she claimed had disrespected her.

In response to the criticism, Desola Afod issued a retraction on her Instagram page. “Whatever statement I made generally concerning ‘Àwọn ọmọ Tíátíà’, I hereby retract and take it back,” she wrote. “I don’t mean to generalize or refer to everyone in the industry. The few people that did me dirty know themselves.”

Responding to Wumi Toriola’s commentary regarding her marriage, Afod emphasized, “One thing remains unchanged: MY NAME IS STILL DESOLA AFOD, CELEB WIFE, TILL THE END OF TIME 100.”

The incident highlights ongoing tensions within the Yoruba film community and raises questions about respect and conduct among its members.
