Gombe 2027: Pantami breaks silence on omission from INEC guber candidate list
Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has issued a response to the absence of his name from the list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election, released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement provided by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe on Saturday, Pantami called on his supporters to remain calm and steadfast despite this development.
According to the statement, Pantami was selected as the candidate following a recent primary election on September 29, 2026, which was conducted in accordance with a ruling from the Federal High Court.
The statement emphasized the concerns raised among supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Pantamiyya Movement regarding the omission of Pantami’s name. It assured supporters that remaining calm and hopeful is essential during this “temporary challenge” within the electoral process.
The statement highlighted, “We understand the concerns this has raised among our teeming supporters,” and affirmed the commitment to address the situation. It included remarks about ongoing efforts to engage with party officials and INEC to ensure compliance with electoral regulations.
The statement concluded by encouraging supporters to continue their mobilization efforts and maintain focus on the shared goal of serving the community. It reiterated that the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement are united in their mission and will not be swayed by distractions.
“We urge our supporters to continue their mobilisation and remain focused on our collective ideology of service to humanity,” it read. The statement also offered blessings for Gombe State and Nigeria as a whole.
